The most colorful and fun festival holi has come. We all really like this festival. The colors in the air, fun, dance, mischief and ghujiya. This festival is full of excitement. We can't resist playing holi, but the harsh chemicals used in different colors are very harmful. Yes, it is very true that our skin has to suffer a lot due to colors. These colors can cause itching, rashes, infections, etc. In fact, even our hair gets damaged and develops more split ends. To lessen the secondary effects of colors, I am sharing some very simple and useful tips so that you can enjoy this beautiful festival more this year.
• Wear full-sleeved cotton fabrics to protect your arms from color.
• Apply a layer of coconut, mustard, or castor oil all over your body. You will add an extra layer between the skin and the colors. Therefore, they will slide and not stick to your skin.
• Moisturize and hydrate your skin very well before going out for holi. Apply a good moisturizer along with sunscreen to minimize the effects of chemicals.
• Try to use only organic or herbal colors. Don't use dark colors like purple and blue. They are very difficult to remove.
• Apply a good amount of Vaseline or lip balm to the lips. The skin on your lips is very soft and you don't want to damage it.
• Massage your hair well with a good hair oil (prefer coconut or mustard oil) and use a tissue to avoid further exposure to colors.
• Harmful chemicals cause more split ends. So make sure to trim your split ends.
• The eyes are the most sensitive part of the face. Therefore, protect it by wearing sunglasses. In case your eyes come into contact with the colors, wash them with cold water only.
• Avoid exposure to sunlight as it will dry out the colors and make it difficult to remove them.
• Don't wash your face very often. This will remove all moisture from the skin.
• To remove colors, use only a good cleansing milk or lotion. Do not apply any chemical-based face wash or soap as it will immediately dry out the skin and remove the natural pH.
• To remove colors, you can use this DIY pack. You need 3 heaping tablespoons of besan, 1 tablespoon of curd, and ½ tablespoon of honey. Mix all the ingredients well and make a thick paste. Apply this paste all over your face and neck. Leave it on for 10-15 minutes and then rub it in lightly.
• To remove colors from your hair, first wash it with plenty of water and nothing else. When you feel the color has been washed out, apply a mild shampoo. Chemical based shampoos will cause more damage to your hair as your hair is already exposed to a lot of chemicals.
After washing your hair, you can apply any of these DIY packs:
1. Take half a bowl of curd and a few drops of lemon. Mix both ingredients well and apply the paste on your hair. This pack will get rid of all the dryness and itchiness and make your hair silky again.
2. Apply a mixture of egg, almond oil and milk. This will repair all the damage and moisturize your scalp really well.
• Finally, apply a mixture of glycerin, rose water and lemon on the skin. This will help you replenish lost moisture and give you fresh, toned skin.
I hope these tips are useful for all of you. Have a safe and happy holi to all of you.
